Another fantastic Major League Baseball season is winding down. It always amazes me that playoff spots come down to the last couple games of the year after a full 162 game season.
While we gear up for the playoffs, here are my projections for the end of season awards (stats are through 9/30):
American League
MVP: Miguel Cabrera - Tigers (.325 AVG / 43 HR / 136 RBI)
Cy Young: David Price - Rays (20-5 / 2.56 ERA / 205 SO)
Rookie of the Year: Mike Trout - Angels (.321 AVG / 30 HR / 80 RBI / 48 SB)
Manager of the Year: Buck Showalter (Orioles)
Notes: Miguel Cabrera comes out on top because the buzz of him winning or coming close to the triple crown will influence the voters. Josh Hamilton, Adrian Beltre, and Mike Trout should finish 2nd through 4th, respectively...Jered Weaver will finish a close 2nd in Cy Young voting to David Price...Mike Trout should win ROY unanimously...Buck Showalter should also run away with the Manager of the Year award.
National League
MVP: Buster Posey - Giants (.337 AVG / 23 HR / 100 RBI)
Cy Young: R.A. Dickey - Mets (20-6 / 2.69 ERA / 222 SO)
Rookie of the Year: Bryce Harper - Nationals (.269 AVG / 22 HR / 59 RBI)
Manager of the Year: Davey Johnson (Nationals)
Notes: The NL MVP is going to be the closest race of them all. If this was purely based on stats I would give the award to Ryan Braun again. However, Buster Posey has been such an integral part to the success of the Giants as they ran away with the NL West. The Brewers, on the other hand, will not be going to the post season...R.A. Dickey should edge Gio Gonzalez for Cy Young...Bryce Harper should win the ROY award easily, I just don't think it will be unanimous...Davey Johnson edges Dusty Baker, Fredi Gonzalez, and Bruce Bochy for NL Manager of the Year. Although one can't be too upset with either of those choices.
The MLB Awards will be handed out at the conclusion of the MLB Season.

I think Gio will beat out R.A. only because Gio actually will be in the playoffs and their numbers are NOT that far off.... where ever Davey Johnson manages they win, same goes with Buck, although the manager out their in Oakland will have something to say about that AL Manager of the Year award. Other then that Your pick seems to be spot on.... GO YANKS!!!!

I don't disagree with the AL awards... it's just a shame that Ron Washington will finish a 3 year stretch with 2 world series appearances and a 3rd playoff appearance(where it ends is unknown) and he still won't sniff a Manager of the Year award...

forgive me for not knowing much as far as infield or outfield triple crown is but i heard or read somewhere that said miggy was on the verge of flirting with triple crown history..with that being said what else is the triple crown consisted of for the infield and outfielders aside from the batting average? congrats to the orioles organization as well for their manager possibly winning the manager of the year award
